Delicate | Taylor swift

Taylor swifts new music video for single 'delicate' has just debuted on YouTube today! I surprisingly really love Taylor Swift, having seen her perform live at British Summer Time festival back in 2015! She was a major icon of mine as a little girl, back when she performed mostly county music. Over the past year she faced major bad publicity after conflict she made with Kanye West and her messy string of relationships, so from this i was excited to see what she had been working on to pull herself back.

I thought this music video was really cool and it showed a different side to Taylor that many may not know she had! What did instantly spring to my mind was that the music video was quite unoriginal and has been done many times before. It has similarities to Kenzo's wacky perfume ad, Fat Boy Slims 'weapon of choice' music video and even Sia's 'Chandelier' video.

I can see why Taylor has gone down this route due to the popularity and success that the other videos have achieved. I think the connotations of the song match the lyrics extremely well so why not take inspiration from others to use in your own work!

I think this is one way in which shows how fashion and music can majorly influence each other. Kenzo produced a music video like advert inspired by Fat Boy Slim, whilst Taylor took inspiration from the successful fashion ad in hope to make her music video just as popular! Even the green dress in both Taylors Video and Zenzo Worlds ad show creative connections between the two.

I think the video shows connotations of how when she's invisible to the public eye, she is free to be her quirky self, dance around and be silly. The video also has connotations of love, as she meets her newest partner in the bar- she feels invisible when she's around him because she's in a world of her own and feels like they are the only two people in the world when they're together!
