A recent ad campaign, designed by Suistudio, presents a reverse on gender roles- where women appear dressed in suits and men in nothing but just their birthday suits. The ad is created to give women a ‘power suit’- we always see naked women objectified in the background of campaigns, so why can we not see men? The campaign is named ‘Not dressing men,’ which shows a series of images of women in office wear, advertising Suistudio’s latest collection.
The company’s first ever ad campaign was posted on Instagram by the brand to advertise their collection, one caption of an image reads “We specialize in suits, but we’re not dressing men”.
The women’s fashion company managed to create a huge uproar with social media users naming the company sexist. Users took to twitter to say “This is plain sexism and blatant objectification”.
I really value this campaign, I’m all about empowering women and I think that ad shows this message really clearly. I don’t see it as sexist because there are so many other fashion ad campaigns that feature naked women, so why is it not ok to reverse the gender roles? I think it shows that women don’t have to rely on men and that they can be bosses in business and be seen as equally dominant in relationships.
All I know is that this campaign has got the viewers attention and lots of people seem to love it. What do you think? Get in contact with me via email or on my Instagram account!
