"Fur is only beautiful on the original owner"

In recent months we have seen an increasing uproar into fur being used on the red carpet. This caught my attention in particular during London Fashion week, when protesters went up in fury to heckle the catwalk show with their anti fur protest.

The activists held up boards to express their messages, using phrases such as “fur is only beautiful on the original owner” or “if you love the feel of fur, stroke a cat!”. Now, I can only agree with these messages and so did Gucci by the looks of their recent announcement.

The Italian Fashion house, Gucci, announced that they would go ‘fur-free’ in 2018, seeing immediate changes in the brands SS18 collection. The CEO, Marco Bizzarri, has said that the remaining animal fur garments and other items will be auctioned off in a bid to prioritize sustainability and morel values.

However, Gucci wasn’t the first to go fur free, back in 2016 Armani also put a stop to fur and abolished the use of animal fur throughout its collections. Giorgio Armani listened to activist’s campaigns, as well as online petitions and investigations into animal cruelty. The designer put his foot down and said no to fur.

Will other luxury fashion brands follow in their footsteps? Who knows, but it seems were all hoping that this will have a ripple effect into the fashion industry and all brands will pledge to drop the use of fur.

After all, who needs fur when the new trend of winter 2017 is these new faux fur (fake fur) teddy bear coats. These fuzzy jackets are the must of the season and everybody is going crazy for them! Technological changes mean there’s no need for real fur anymore, when you can get the same recreation- but animal friendly! What’s not to love?

Here’s a few of my absolute favorites on the market right now:

This beautiful Faux Fur coat from Topshop is a great alternative from real fur. Flying off the shelves at only £79 this is one of my wardrobe must haves of the season. And if you aren't feeling this, theres more...

Now, i am having serious vibes for the new Sarah Ashcroft AW17- Not your baby doll collection, from In the Style. This is the beautiful fur teddy coat that made an appearance in her collection, its one of my favourite pieces from the new line and would look killer in your wardrobe! And for only £49.99- bargain!

I'm also absolutely digging this coat, also from In the Style. This is the 'Jazel' black fluffy longline coat, which is perfect to jazz up your outfit during these cold winter months. This is also £49.99 and is an asset to your winter closet.

Well, its a bit different- but if your into bright colours as much as i am, you'll love this bright red Lapels faux fur coat from Mango. It doesn't stop at red, this gorgeous long lined coat also comes in yellow and 'tobacco brown'. £119.99- a bit on the pricy side, but would you pay it for fashion? Let me know!

Just dropped! The new Pretty Little Thing X Kourtney Kardashian collection. This lime Faux fur coat modelled by Sofia Jamora is a unique item, but dreamy to say the least. I don't know about you but i am loving this look. This piece is in at £75, but it certainly a killer piece to fill gaps in your wardrobe. Do you dare to go bold?
