Striking in Stripes

Colourful stripes are the new black of the year! From Runway to shops, stripes have to be my go to trend from this year. From horizontal, nautical and pin stripes who could have thought stripes would couple with the runway. In SS17 stripes made an arrival to the runway and since then they have been filling empty spaces in everyone’s wardrobes (including mine!).
Designers such as Miu Miu, Elie Sabb, Fendi and Rosie Assoulin brought out their “most wearable” vibe of the season. Miu Miu in particular caught my attention, throwing it back to the 70’s with hues of mustard yellow blocked alongside orange and black.
It appears that the online company Pretty Little Thing caught onto the feel, introducing their range of vertical stripe flares inspired by the 70’s and what seems to be similar to Rosie Assoulin’s runway intake on the trendy print. I myself bought these trousers to see what all the fuss was about and I can tell you that they are both comfortable and stylish- an essential item for my wardrobe.
They didn’t stop there; a more typical sports luxe vibe was channeled by almost every retailer. Whilst people may deliberate that the typical ‘track’ stripes are boring and expected- I personally love them and have purchased many pieces to add to my collection. People are going crazy for stripes, particularly young adolescents who hit the high street sporting the lines on the daily.
Bold, daring and playful are often names adopted by stripes and many designers have made a break through them, including Coco Chanel, Paul Smith and Benetton. When reading 'The Blonde Salads' input of stripes, I learned that these designers had made their thousands through the world famous pattern.
What is your intake on stripes? Are they filling gaps in your wardrobe? Or are you ditching the trend in 2018?
